Asia Argento & Italy’s Film Industry 🇮🇹🎬

IMG_20180423_054649_105

I am not sure how the film industry & those who are part of that community in Italy acknowledge or value their fellow countrywomen and colleagues. She has worked and contributed to more than 45 film projects (not including tv, videos, music, video games, directorial). This is a lot. A Lifetime of Hardwork and Commitment. What’s to disrespect or bash when a fellow Italian has given so much to Italy and represented her country both locally and internationally. In other countries, their government, people and film association would appreciate and present their deserving citizens who have achieved and contributed as much she has with special awards and recognition. Maybe one day Italy will come to their senses and have a heart to make peace, to do what’s right, to be fair & be honorable.

She didn’t choose but was blessed to be born into the Argento’s family. I think I am not wrong to say that they are one of the most influential and famous Italian family in the world who single handedly put Italy on the world map through films, arts and entertainment. Having famous parents and their family name, Yes, she did struggle in the beginning but we can’t deny that she has given her all, turnt things around and made a name for herself and by herself. She is now not only a daughter but also a loving mom to two beautiful children. She is still grounded and she’s not sucked into the expected famous people society. She has never presented herself as a perfect human being and her flaws, she never denied or hid. And no, she’s not one of those who would push you down to the floor when approached by fans in public. She has no worries being seen in public without make up, salon ready hair or designer’s outfits, shoes & accessories. She’s living life according to her own terms.

Here’s a beautiful photo of Asia & Anthony Bourdain. The most outspoken yet loving couple who found balance, understanding & peace with each other. A passionate & loving companionship. A powerful & vocal partnership. They say, it’s takes two from a different world to complete each other. 💛

Today, as a passionate activist, she’s constantly fighting to improve situations on what’s unfair and unhealthy in her country and in places around the world. She’s never shy to use her voice and her position to raise issues, to educate, to share her views and to create awareness. That says a lot about a person who is special. Surely there are risks involved but the most painful will be the Hate, those words and articles written in tabloids, magazines and on social media, mostly from her Homeland. Headlines with accompanying photos of her in previous movie roles, characters, are published over and over again like a daily ritual for the sake of shaming and tarnishing her. (I think I may have once joked, saying that if she were to have invited all those detractors and naysayers for pasta, coffee and give them all an autograph, maybe they’ll be nicer 😓😊). The press, the journalists and writers are all intelligent people. They know exactly what they are publishing and how the outcome of their articles may be.

This is during a production break while filming Marie Antoinette. She played the character of Madame Du Barry. In real life this is not Du Barry but a person playing the role. Anyone who’ve seen this movie & who disliked Du Barry in it will not dislike Asia Argento for it right? Or Do you? Can you differentiate them both?

To the members of the public, I do hope that we can be clear and be sensible enough to realize and to know that whatever and whoever you see in a film role, being in character, is not the real person in real life. Who you hate on screen should never be who you hate in person. Just saying, Do we actually judge a person who played a villain, who did darker roles, who was naked in movies – for the sake of story telling and for art, as a Bad Person? And do we actually think that an actress playing an innocent girl next door character is actually all Sweet, Prime and Proper?

Come on Italy, she has done so much good for you. Leave her past behind. The person you may have disliked or who might have unintentionally offended anyone along her journey is no more the person she was 10, 15 or 20 years ago. She has grown, she has learnt and she’s wiser with age. Supporting, helping and giving her a chance as well as giving yourselves that chance to get to know her again and to treat her with respect in a humane manner is the right thing to do. I believe that Italy have more class than constantly being a fiery hater. #Peace

I am blessed & I am thankful to know this friend of mine. As I have promised her that our friendship is only for the both of us to know, as brothers and sisters and as travelling companions in life in spite of being in different parts of the world. Many may not know this but do believe me when I say that Asia is the most loving, caring, kind, peaceful, gentle, supportive, intelligent, funny, loyal and a Non Racist human being who have guided, protected and taught me so much to be a better and a more courageous person than I was before. And NO, she’s never one who’ll impose herself as a Mighty Celebrity, The One or an over the top Starlet.

Think about it Italy. Even a person abroad can see and appreciate her for who she is and i’m certain you too can make that choice to do the same because she belongs to you.🇮🇹

~ info from imdb

Notes:

* I am not including subjects related to MeToo / HW / TimesUp etc because a lot have been written and published. As we all know, Asia is the first woman who shared and reported her incident. The report written by Ronan Farrow was published in October last year. She has had to endure and defend herself after being bombarded and condemned unfairly by the press and members of the public. But i am glad that she’s the kind who is strong enough to blast off any haters, trolls and tabloids. Her Fuck Off & Fuck You attitude came in handy during those challenging moments.

* What I am writing is based on how she has inspired me as a person. And to be honest, this is my first ever written blog, article & I registered to have a WordPress account solely for this purpose. I’m glad I did. And I am also thankful to The ArcaneNibbler, who is himself a brilliant writer for his support and encouragement.

* Next, I may be writing about people I know, those who are fighting against violence, hate, racism, sexism, misogyny, rape and assault. Those deserving of acknowledgement and who are good people.

IMG_20180423_215726

These are two of the most powerful article that I have gotten to know, to read and to learn more. Toxic Masculinity – An experience that every men will have to go through in life either by being the victim or the one victimizing others.

Article 1 – published by The Guardian on April 9, 2018 👑

ABOUT THE BOYS: TIM WINTON ON HOW TOXIC MASCULINITY IS SHACKLING MEN TO MISOGYNY.
In an excerpt from a speech about his new book The Shepherd’s Hut, the author says it is men who need to step up and liberate boys from the race, the game, the fight [ Do also look out for • Winton on writing ‘with my heart in my mouth’ – podcast ]

Let’s hope that we can create awareness on how deadly toxic masculinity can be. No men should be bullied into thinking that hurting others is “Cool”. As a man, I’ve made mistakes too while growing up. I was one of those who encouraged hate before & also one who have experienced being called weak, fag, pussy etc when I went against it.

IMG_20180423_215801

I wrote and posted about toxic masculinity and men being allies and also on subjects related to violent, rape and assault. I wrote all that with my nieces, my mom, my sister – Women, in mind. I also do hope that readers, followers and friends would do the same too cause by having your wife, daughters, family, girlfriends etc in mind, one we’ll have a clearer understanding as to why these matters are important and that our role & support as Men are helpful. Not everyone of my followers on Twitter I dare tag but I was surprised by the response that i’ve gotten and I am grateful.

IMG_20180423_215718

I have said this on my Twitter profile and I’ll say it again here. If anyone feels uneasy about my views, topics etc regarding Toxic Masculinity, Gender Equality, Rape, Violent or Misogyny and if anyone here who’d still consider “others” – Women, People of Color, Lgbt etc as Secondary, please do not continue reading and please do feel free to exit.

IMG_20180423_221309_377.JPG

“As we learn more about Feminism, Gender Parity & Sexism, Toxic Masculinity is an issue, a “hinder” when it comes to men being allies, defender & advocates for women. My followers, the many humble Men and Women here are against Injustice, Bullying, Rape, Racism, Hate & Violent. I’m in the company of good people!”

‘If there’s only one way of being a bloke, one valid interpretation of the part, the role, if you like. There’s a constant pressure to enlist, to pull on the uniform of misogyny & join the Shithead Army that enforces & polices sexism. And it grieves me to say it’s not just men pressing those kids into service” – T.W

Note: I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my friends and followers on Twitter for their support and acknowledgement. Those who are also fighting to make this world a better, a healthier and a safer place to live.

Feminin – Malaysia’s Most Iconic Girl Group

IMG_20180423_043048_645
Feminin’s Lux Endorsement Commercial.

Feminin was a female group formed in 1992 with 5 of the most energetic young ladies in Malaysia. They were ahead of time when rap, hip-hop, dance music were rather new in Malaysia & such genre, it was initially unsure at time how they’ll be accepted. They marched on, being carefully guided by some of the most influential and successful music industry heavyweights such as Kru, Warner Music and in just a matter of time they became one of the most demanded group in Malaysia during that era.

Their performances were dance filled and neatly choreographed. I don’t consider them to be a manufactured group but one that was carefuly, delicately and caringly mentored. Their hardwork, discipline, maturity & professionalism is admirable & commendable considering they were all so young at that time. They successfully journeyed through our music industry but due to internal matters, differences, the unexpected surge of pirated products and recession, Feminin disbanded in 1997. What they left us are great memories, unforgettable songs and dance moves. Until this day they are still missed, respected and their songs are still played and will never be forgotten.

As, Yatie, Watie, Deq Nor & Along are now in their 40s. A few of them are stay at home moms and others, holding position in well known companies. Throughout their career, they have released a total of 14 singles, 3 Studio Albums and 5 Compilation & Remix Albums. Their wellknown songs & “anthems” are Kini, Untukmu, Kembali, Rindu & many others. Eddriss Razhe being the group’s manager and guardian, groomed & directed their talent & journey towards success. It has also been mentioned that while being signed to a well respected recording company, their daily schedule was said to be tight, physically demanding but most importantly, their manager ensured that education was not neglected.

I personally think that they are the most successful and iconic female group ever in Malaysia. Feminin became a phenomenon, setting new fashion trends and was accepted and loved by all races, both male and female. Good For Them. They empowered women & created opportunities & paved the way for other female artists who came after them.

Asia Argento & Justice

IMG_20180320_213830_376

Does Asia Argento claims to be a substitute for the justice system? NO. What she’s unsure of doing before was due to the fear of being shamed, of getting no support & the fear of being abandoned. There’s no denying that victims can be stucked, confused & be frozen. Some may take years to come to terms with their horrifying incident. It is so easy for us to think that this is all a game, being manipulative & cunning but in real, it’s not – Thankfully All that have changed Today. By going public with accusations, there is a chance that other victims may come forward, a place for victims to reach out & help verify crimes. A solid ground for victims to find each other for comfort & solidarity. This is the only effective way to stop serial rapists & predators. Asia Argento & MeToo are not justice but they make justice possible. I hope that this will provide a clearer picture and understanding to members of the public.

👑by/with Ray & annonymous dan who wrote wonderfully👑

Just to share and to acknowledge friends & followers who have also been actively contributing together their tweets, voice & support since last year. Backing each other up (The early batches 😁. I hope I didn’t leave out anyone). By the way, there’ll be more acknowledgement and mention on my next post. Thank You All. I’ve learnt a lot.
